A Message from CICOA President & CEO Tauhric Brown
In today's interconnected world, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives have taken center stage across many organizations. These initiatives aim to create fair and inclusive environments where people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences can thrive. But one crucial element is often overlooked in these conversations: Belonging.
Mission
CICOA's mission is to empower older adults, those of any age with a disability, and their caregivers by providing the innovative answers, services, and support they need to achieve the greatest possible independence, dignity, and quality of life. This is how we advanced our mission in FY2022 (July 2021-June 2022).
Community Impact
Your care and concern help those among us who are facing hunger, chronic health conditions, loneliness, isolation and other challenges. Your support is a lifeline--ensuring they have access to information, nutritious meals, essential transportation, in-home care, and so much more!

CASOA Survey Finds Older Adults Don't Feel Valued
Older adults in Central Indiana do not feel valued, according to the 2021 Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults (CASOA), a study commissioned by the Indiana Division of Aging and CICOA. The survey of people aged 60 and older in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan and Shelby counties in late 2021 found Central Indiana falling short of national benchmarks in the following areas: transportation, community quality, recreation, community participation, housing and employment. In this Envision Lecture, Tauhric Brown shares findings from the 2021 CASOA survey.
