In the Spring of 2013, CICOA participated in The Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults (CASOA). Surveys were sent to 3,000 households in Central Indiana with one or more resident age 60 or older. The objectives of the survey were to:
- Identify community strengths in serving older adults
- Articulate the specific needs of older adults in the community
- Estimate contributions made by older adults in the community
- Determine the connections of older adults to the community
Results from the survey were compiled into a CASOA Report that focuses on six community dimensions that provide an overall picture of Central Indiana as a livable community for older adults:
- Overall community quality
- Community and Belonging
- Community Information
- Productive Activities
- Health and Wellness
- Community Design and Land Use
