Everything old is…

Orion Bell Square Headshot Each May, the nation recognizes the contributions of seniors to their communities. This year’s theme, “Blaze a Trail,” emphasizes the ways older adults are reinventing themselves through new work and new passions, engaging their communities, and blazing a trail of positive impact on the lives of people of all ages.

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Lowell’s book is only one example of what is referred to as “life review”—an activity known by gerontologists to offer great benefit to those capturing their memories. While many of us (especially as caregivers) may not have the time or interest to take on a huge writing project, the good news is that a life review need not be laborious. A life review can consist of a collection of writings, poems or artwork; it can also be as simple as a monologue of one special memory preserved using the video or audio recording functions of a cell phone.

Positive Attitude Nourishes the Soul

Tiffany CoxLet’s face it, attitude is everything. Yes, this is a nutrition blog, and I’m talking about attitude. But, attitude is beneficial in so many aspects of life, including overall wellness and the food choices that we make every day. These choices are affected by a myriad of factors bombarding us. Our attitude—whether good or bad—is at least one factor that we have control over.
