CICOA’s 10th annual Signature Breakfast, presented by Comfort Keepers, was held on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Primo South. CICOA set a fundraising goal of $150,000 to fund critical services, and our generous sponsors and donors helped raise a record-breaking $168,657!
CICOA also presented its annual Caregiver of the Year Award, which honors one personal caregiver in Central Indiana who models courage, sacrifice, strength and creativity while caring for another. Meet the 2019 Caregiver of the Year, Lori Christy.
You can also view our 2019 Signature Breakfast video that tells the story of how an Indianapolis trash collector became a lifeline for a CICOA client.
This year’s keynote speaker was Tom Coverdale. Watch the video of Tom’s keynote in which he shares stories of caring for his mother and how their relationship evolved throughout his basketball career.
Indiana basketball fans will remember Tom as Mr. Basketball in 1998 when he played for the Noblesville Millers. He also played for Bobby Knight at IU. Tom moved on to a six-year, out-of-state coaching career before returning to Indiana. While at IU, his mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Tom will share the powerful story of how he, along with his father and two brothers, a family of alpha males, provided care for the most important woman in their lives. Today, Tom works as the Director of Sales for AAA Hoosier Motor Club Insurance.
