Focus on Alignment

Written by

Dear Friends,

FY2023 was a year characterized by remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication to address the gaps between our vision for tomorrow and today’s realities. Alignment around that vision has been a driving force across the organization in all our endeavors, and it is with great pride that I share some of the many ways we have measured progress.

Alignment has been at the forefront of our preparations to meet the State of Indiana’s Pathways for Aging Program. This program, scheduled to launch in 2024, is a Managed Long-Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) initiative for Indiana’s Medicaid enrollees who are 60 years of age and older and eligible based on age, blindness or disability. In anticipation of this landmark development, we have worked diligently to align our strategic goals and initiatives with the objectives of the Pathways for Aging Program. Our proactive approach ensures that we are well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of our community and continue to provide essential services for our aging population.

Another driving force behind our success is the unwavering dedication of our Compliance team to ensure we operate within all regulatory requirements and with the highest ethical standards. With their tireless efforts, we have met and surpassed compliance benchmarks, reinforcing our commitment to integrity and transparency.

Alignment also has been a central focus in the cross-training initiatives undertaken by our Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and Options Counseling teams. Recognizing the growing demand for our services, these teams have developed a unified approach that optimizes efficiency and effectiveness. By aligning their knowledge, skills and resources, we now are better able to scale our services to meet increasing demand and serve our community more effectively.

I also am delighted to highlight significant growth in our utilization of Community Health Workers (CHWs) to foster deeper connections in underserved and minority communities. In recognition of the unique needs and challenges faced by these communities, we have expanded our outreach efforts to ensure that we are accessible, culturally competent and inclusive. The integration of CHWs not only has allowed us to bridge gaps in health equity, but also has reinforced our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging at the core of our mission.

As we look to the future, alignment will remain a guiding principle as we strive to deliver the highest quality of care and support to the people of central Indiana. We will continue to adapt, innovate and grow, always with an eye towards achieving greater alignment across our organization and with external partners.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to all our donors, volunteers, partners and employees for your dedication and unwavering support throughout the year. Thank you for your trust and confidence in CICOA. Your contributions have been instrumental in our collective success, and I am excited about what we can achieve in the year ahead.
