CICOA Workshop Helps Put Life Back in Your Life
POSTED: March 8, 2013
Feel better, learn new ways to talk with your doctor and family about your health, find practical ways to make daily tasks easier, and have more energy for the activities you enjoy. “Living a Healthy Life,” a six-week, self-management workshop offered by CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions, empowers people to live well while dealing with chronic health conditions such as arthritis, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and more.
The interactive wellness workshop, developed by Stanford University’s School of Medicine, is open to anyone interested in developing new tools and skills to break the “symptom cycle” and find relief from pain, fatigue, and other symptoms. Caregivers and relatives of participants who would benefit from learning problem solving skills to positively affect one’s health are also welcome.
Upcoming classes will meet over six consecutive Tuesdays beginning April 2 through May 7, 1:30-4:00 p.m. at Community South Education Wing, Conference Room 2, 1402 E. County Line Rd., Indianapolis, 46107. To register please contact Touchpoint at 800-777-7775.
A second workshop will meet on six consecutive Tuesdays beginning April 16 through May 21, 1:00-3:30 p.m. at Shelby Senior Services, Inc., Horizon Center, 1504 S Harrison St., Shelbyville, 46176. To register please contact LuAnn Mason at 317-398-0127.
The “Living a Healthy Life” workshop is led by trained facilitators who also have chronic conditions. Participants must commit to attend at least four out of six sessions. A $10.00 registration fee covers the workshop, a Living a Healthy Life resource book and a relaxation CD.
