YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program
FACT: People with prediabetes are likely to develop type 2 diabetes within 10 years, unless they take action to reduce their risk.
Now through the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program and CICOA, you can work with others in a small group setting to make practical, lifestyle changes that will improve your overall health. Studies show these changes also can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes and its associated danger—heart attack, stroke, blindness and even amputation—by 58 percent!
The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-led National Diabetes Prevention Program and is nationally supported by the Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance.

Better Choices, Better Health®
Workshop and Registration
CICOA offers a six-week, evidence-based course, “Better Choices, Better Health®,” developed by Stanford University’s School of Medicine to help those with ongoing health concerns better manage day-to-day activities. The workshop is open to individuals who suffer from chronic diseases such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, chronic pain, diabetes, fibromyalgia, heart disease, high blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s and more–as well as their family members and caregivers. There is a $10.00 registration fee, and all participants will receive a resource book and relaxation CD.
Subjects include techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation; appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance; appropriate use of medications; communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals; nutrition; and how to evaluate new treatments.
