Indiana University Health has awarded a $10,000 grant to CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions to support CICOA’s mission and work during the COVID-19 crisis.
Through this grant, Indiana University Health seeks to increase food access for seniors impacted by the economic fallout and social distancing measures associated with the Coronavirus pandemic. Funding supports CICOA’s efforts to provide meals for homebound seniors in Marion County.
“CICOA is so appreciative of support from Indiana University Health during this time of crisis in our community. These funds allow us to respond to the COVID-19 emergency with meals for older adults with complex care needs who are most at risk and can’t get food on their own,” said Tauhric Brown, CICOA President and CEO.
While CICOA’s neighborhood meal sites and voucher locations in hospitals are closed, home delivered meals are being provided to these clients. Weekend meals also have been added for all meals clients on Saturdays and Sundays. More than 2,300 meals will be provided through this grant.
Since 2007, Indiana University Health has supported CICOA’s programs and services with donations totaling more than $183,000.
