CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions has received a Basic Needs Fund grant of $225,000 from United Way of Central Indiana. This critical funding supports essential elements of CICOA’s work and ensures that an adequate safety net exists for vulnerable older adults and people with disabilities.

United Way funding will help thousands of CICOA clients in Central Indiana gain access to nutritious food, safe and affordable housing, health care services and transportation.

“Meeting the basic needs of older adults, people of any age with a disability and their caregivers is the foundation of CICOA’s work and is especially needed today as our community continues to rebound from the health and economic impacts of COVID-19,” said CICOA President and CEO Tauhric Brown.

“We are honored and grateful for United Way’s continued trust and investment in CICOA to ensure that seniors and people with disabilities can live with the greatest possible independence, dignity and quality of life,” Brown continued.

“To achieve stability, people must first have their basic needs met,” said Mary Jones, United Way’s senior director of basic needs. “These funds support services that help people with life’s essentials.”

CICOA is one of 63 accredited organizations receiving United Way Basic Needs Fund grants totaling $8.3 million. United Way of Central Indiana established the Basic Needs Fund to stabilize households in crisis, maintain services for the most vulnerable, and provide supports to ensure longer term stability.
